lots of silence here....what's up with that?

Mainly because he was about to report on who was responsible for killing the Last leader of Lebanon. It was to come out in the next month and now his father is demanding that it does come out. The ones doing the report are now looking into who is responsible for this new killing.
Most of the Lebanonese believe that Syria and Hezbollah are the ones who had both of them killed.

After decades of civil war and strife in Lebanon it is highly likely he was shot because he is a Lebanese Christian Leader and therefore makes a much more desirable target than a Lebanese Christian nobody.But anybody will do in the Lebanon as a target for Muslim fundamentalist lunatics.
The real question is how any of them manage to escape being shot.

It's probably attempt by Shiite related groups(Hamas, Hezbolla, Iran...etc) to destabilize the country and hoping its central government will either collapse or be damaged.
