Why do so many people say that Wicca = Satanism? It is not! I am Wicca and I hate the devil. Everything bad in life comes from him! I am what some people call a White Wicca. I do spells for the benifits of people, not the Devil.
Explain what makes YOU think why we supposedly worship the devil.

I was converted from Chirstian to Wicca. That is why I believe in the devil. I carry some of my older beliefs to my newer ones.

torrado_fan4evr, you got it right! Wicca/Pagan sabbats are converted into a holiday that Christians are pleased with. I think that Christians are honored more because our entire history is based around God. He created earth, has a son that was a savior, and created all of man-kind. It bugs me so bad.

Question for you...You say you are Wiccan and hate the devil? Why are you even believing in the devil? He is a Christian concept, your Wiccan. Wiccans do not acknowledge the existance of a being called "the devil".

Wow, Wiccans (and Pagans for that matter) do not believe in Satan. The main structure of Wicca is that you are personally responsible for everything you do, good or bad, and anything that you do to another will come back to you. You know, karmic justice. There is no evil vs good in Wicca, all are parts of the whole. The moon goes dark, and then comes around to full every 28 days. Without the dark there can be no light, but that does not mean that witches do evil magic. Really, the only thing connecting the two is the use of the pentagram, but even that is a stretch. Satanists use the pentagram upside down to represent the horns of the goat, Wiccans look at the pentagram as the 4 elements and spirit, surrounded by a circle used to show that all is connected. Again, that whole you are responsible for everything you touch stuff.

You're right. It's not Satanism. But like many people here have said, unless you are Christian as well as Wiccan (By the way, you are a Wiccan, not a "Wicca". You yourself are not a religion) you don't believe in Satan. I'm wondering about that...but anyway, my second point is that there is no such thing as "White Wicca". If you are truly Wiccan, everything religion-wise is positive anyway. I can tell you right now, the reason Wicca is associated with Satanism in our society is because of the Church's manipulative influences on Christians hundreds of years ago, and were passed on and on and on until our generation, where the misconception is still alive, even in a society with thriving sources of infinite information. Sad, isn't it? But hey, that way Wicca is more esoteric and special to the followers. Blessed Be Your Path!
My final question: Why is it that all of these questions about Wicca I find on this site are usually in the FOLKLORE section? It bugs the hell out of me. This question belongs in the Religion category, dear.

I think people think that Wicca is derived from Satanism because all the sabbats have been manipulated into christian holiday. Yule and Ostara have been turned into Christmas and Easter. Samhain has been given an evil vibe by saying that the honouring of passing souls is honouring the devil. Most of the things that represent Halloween are given sinister connotations. Halloween is a harvest festival for crying out loud. How evil could that possibly be? Anyway that's why I think people think that Wicca = Satanism. Scared little Christians and such that think that what we do is wrong because we call nature what it is; nature. Not God. Blessed be.

i am a dark neo-Pagan also, and i dont consider wicca,Pagan evil neither.the fact that alot of ppl think that they are evil dates back in the begining when all of the witches were abused or burned because of the early christians thinking that they were evil.there was no proof until Gerald Gardner when He explained the meaning of Wicca religion in a more positive way. When i do my rituals or my workings i do not feel evil nor see the devil.i dont believe that the devil even exist as a spirit.once this person told me that the devil was making the wiccans and Pagans think that there were no satan and that satan was tricking the wiccans and pagans in that.i do not believe this at all.the fact that christians try to tell us that we are being fooled by the devil makes me angry.the fact also that they do not even want to take time to study about our religion is beyond me.we are a growing religion and there are more ppl out there wanting to become witches, pagans,or wiccans and they are believing that the religion is a safer alternative religion to go by.i hope this answers your question as for you and i and all of the other brothers and sisters of the Lord and the Lady knows the real truth about our religion.we are taught by the Goddess to love outsiders even if they do bring anger to our hearts.
Blesssed be,

Ummmm... why would you hate the devil? If you're Wiccan you know that the Devil doesn't exist. So why hate something that doesn't exist?
Wicca was NOT created in the 1800's. Don't listen to that garbage. Wicca was created in 1954 by Gerald Gardner. It's derived from older Pagan religions.

Ignorance...people tend to think the worst of what they do not understand. Most people have their preconceptions of "the Craft" from what they see in movies and television and they assume its truth. They don't take the time to read and enlighten themselves to what Wicca truly is. I don't believe there is a devil...I think the devil may symbolize the evil in this world. We all know there is good and evil...I believe the Christians just gave evil a name...Lucifer/Satan so they would have someone to blame for their wrongdoings. You know the old saying " The devil made me do it"

Ignorance, fear, and/or hatred of anything they aren't accustomed to or familiar with are the main causes of misinformation.
I'm Wiccan (neither "White" nor "Black" as most Wiccans actually don't believe in those color segregations) so I don't believe in the devil as that is solely a Christian concept. That said, there's no point whatsoever in hating something/someone you shouldn't even believe exists in the first place. Even when I was raised to be a Christian, I didn't believe in it.
It sounds like you are equally confused about your own beliefs.

wiccan was created in the 1800 hundreds so christian holidays were actualy based on earlier but no wiccan religoun, not that im wican, but i admire pagan religouns becaue of the lore and it has nothing to do with satan their isnt even a satan in pagan religoun i think it was something created to help convert for the catholic church
pollie your comment was not very open minded, christianity was not the first religoun, tho im am christian, i disagree that all others are satan worshipers because satan is a creaton of the catholic church and satan is lucifer who was a fallen angel who fell at the time of the prophets and such i think so if those religouns that existed before lucifer became satan and they continued their beliefs then how could they be satan worshipers if they were already worshiping prior to satan.

Your assertion about Satan or the Devil are odd. Have you done a Bible search lately to catalog the misdeeds of Satan? I cannot remember one reference in the Bible indicating that Satan committed one felony.
You might consider that recent wars were not waged in the name of Satan but in the name of one god or another by Jews, Christians or Muslims.
Spells you say. Have you ever subjected that casting of spells to scientific testing? I'd really like someone to cast the "win the big bucks lottery spell" my way, just once. Well, maybe twice or three times. I do have some credit card debt.
