What does The Average New York loft cost????

How much would a VERY SMALL, COCKROACH FREE, loft in a fairly safe area of new york cost? I would be going to a fashion design school called PARSONS. I would also like to live somewhere that has good places to eat and shop and stuff.

In Midtown Manhattan with a room mate you could get off easy with paying roughly $3500 a month plus utilities and parking. Or you could pay $2000 for a nice clean small studio.
