What do you think of naming your daughter after the mother? Is that so weird, men do it all the time. What is your opinion?

My name is Rachel Ann, I was thinking Rachelle Annette. What do you think now that you have a good example?

I think it's an interesting new twist.. esp since it is done the other way around all the time. Also, I like the fact that it isn't the same exact name.

I don't think it is weird but it isn't done very often. I know a few people that named their daughters after themselves.

It is common here for the middle name to be after your mother. I believe that there are becoming fewer and fewer male namesakes as well.

Instead of just a different spelling how about a similiar name or the same initials.

I think it would be more of an honor to have your daughter wanting to name her children after you.

How about:
Raquel Anette or Raquel Ann
Riley

Or switching it around so something like:
Annabelle Rachel
Ava Raquel
Annabeth Rachel
Angeline Rachelle

If you want your daughter to have your first name, I recommend using it as a middle name. Let your daughter have her own first name so she can feel like an individual.
It is confusing to have the same first name. What if your husband was yelling out "Rachel" and you and your daughter answer? it's would get annoying after awhile.
My mother in law is named after her mom, Marguerite. And my father in law is named after his dad, Henri.

My grandmas name is Eleanor, and my aunt (her daughter)'s name is Eleanor Ann... I don't think its weird at all. Uncommon, but not weird. ...Also, don't listen to people who say that naming a child after someone takes away their identity. Everyone has their own identity no matter what his/her name is.. that makes no difference. Just go with your gutt. She'll be who she is regardless of her name.... A rose by any other name...

I do not think that is weird at all. My great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, me, and my daughter all have the same middle name ... Marie. It is like a family tradition... it could be the same with you. You could start it! We all go by our first names which are all different but we have that in common.

hmm...that is a VERY good question. Even though you would change it up a bit, i still think you should, like someone else said, give the baby it's own identity. but stick with the name annette because its soooooooo pretty!!

One of my daughters has my middle name as a first name...sort of...let me explain better! lol
Ok, her name is Evangeline. My middle name is Eva. We call her Eva for short as its a nickname for Evangeline. So she she's named after me but yet still has her "own" name.
I like your example.
I dont see anything wrong with doing it obviously since I did it.
Oh & I should add that Eva is also my sister's middle name and our grandma's middle name. So I was kind of keeping up a tradition in a way.

I've had a few friends named after their mothers, and they've hated it. I don't like the idea. Of course, I don't like naming babies after their fathers, either. The baby is a unique individual, distinct from her parents. She should have her own name.

I most certianly think it's fine. I would have given my daughter my name but my grandfather died the month before her birth & I chose a variation of his name instead. So instead of Caina Monique it became Caina Elise, my grandfather's name was Elix (pronounced ee-leek, we're Cajun from LA)

You know what, I was named after my grandmother I don't like it but atleast my parents gave me a middle name I like, so if the mother's name is nice why not?
