Had a '96 done at Pep Boys for around $85, but I think they had to replace one. It doesn't take long; super easy to replace them if you want to take them off and have them turned. Just don't disconnect the brake lines or you'll have to bleed them. If they need to turn/replace the rotors and replace the brake pads and they don't have any other cars in the shop it should take less than two hours if they're slow. New rotors are $20-$30 each at autozone.com, and pads are between $10 and $30 each. Unless they're grinding really bad or your car lurches to one side or bounces when you stop, they should be able to turn them. If it's the front brakes, spend the extra money on better than the cheapest pads. Your front brakes do most of the work, don't be cheap with your safety (and street cred. when they start to squeak.) Autozone.com also will give you instructions if you want to do it yourself.
