A facsimile is not legal, you must rely on the kindness of strangers, call the LA clerks office and explain your dilemma, offer to pay express mail with your credit card, if all else fails, plan the honeymoon in LA.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage. May it be a long and blissfull one! As far as your marriage license...yep, you need an ORIGINAL, not hospital, copy from the county that you fiancee' was born in. I think that your idea of a fax is a good one; however, I would call up the person that types up the license (just call the court house and ask the clerk of courts) to see if a faxed copy would be good enough or if they do need the original. I certainly hope that this works out for you. If not, explain the situation to your pastor/priest have your marriage ceremony anyway and have your pastor, as well as you, your fiancee', and two witnesses sign it later. The date will be different on your marriage license of the date that you actually marry, but only you, the pastor, and your fiancee' need to know that. Good Luck!

I seriously doubt any county clerk other than in mayberry would work that hard to help you...Does he have a Social Security Card? Passport? Military ID? anyone of these sometimes will substitute. Does he really want to get married? This could be passive aggressive behavior? How hard has he tried? You can use a company called Vitalchek online I think there the best.

If both the town where you reside now and the town he was born have computerized records then your clerk should be able to print up his B.C for you. I know I needed my daughters and when I called the town she was born in they told me I could just get it in the town I live in now, I just needed to show proof that I was a resident of my town(A drivers license was all I needed for that).

faxed copy is not certified, they need the orginal with the seal on it.
Also does it have to be a birth certificate, is so have your checked other states near by, Nevada perhaps, I know all I needed was my drivers licnese when I got married in TN and that is all they needed in GA also
