White Heat staring James Cagney made in 1949.
He is a gangster like he was many times but this movie has some of the greatest scenes of all time.
It's another generation but check out Cagney movies if you want to see one of the all time great actors.

I'm a movie freak so I couldn't pick just one. It depends on my mood and frame of mind. Some days it's Hoodwinked, some days Munich, some days Six Days Seven Nights or Scorched... some days Henry and June... it all depends.

"How to Make an American Quilt" starring Wynona Ryder and Maya Angelou. It was told from the narrative point of view which i love. Its a beautiful story of love and struggle for happiness amongst these women who sit together to make a quilt!
