Congratulations to your friend, its very common to have hardening in your stomach while pregnant, its known as braxton hicks and occur from as early in pregnancy as about 3 -4 months and will get stronger leading up to birth, they are practice contractions and are normally painless but they can become more noticeable during later pregnancy. It can be uncomfortable as sometimes the baby will try and kick the brackston hick away. Nothing to worry about all very normal and will continue. Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

My stomach got hard at the 5'th week. I am now 10 weeks and yes, when Lay or sit, the hard part must sink in as I feel soft then.

This is normal... My stomach didn't get "hard" until my uterus reached my naval (month 6 or so). Now it is 4 inches above it, and my stomach does feel hard... (30 weeks)

It's harden because of the different position of the fetus when the mother is standing. The fetus is more relaxed when the mother is in a relaxed position. The pain normally comes from the uterus stretching.
