10 and thirteen is a huge difference(some1elses question)
14 and 16 is huge too(me an my crush)
27 and 40 if large(step-mom and dad)
but 57 and 66 isn't that big(step-grandpa and Grandma)
I understand it if one is under 18 and one is over because that is illegal though atleast 18 and 19 should be allowed
why it that it matters so much

it should not matter because my dad was a senior when my stepmom was a kindergartener. Though same with my grandma and step grandpa just it was first grade

14 & 16 isn't huge and neither is 57 & 66, but 27 & 40 is.
In my opinion, it matters because someone who is 40 has had 40 years of life experience unlike their partner who has only had 27 years of life experience. Does that make sense? If not, think about it this way: When your dad was driving, your step-mom was still in diapers. When your dad was old enough to drink, your step-mom was in 3rd grade.

I don't think it's a big deal at all.And it's not illegal to date if for example:a 19 year old guy and a 16 year old girl date(like me and my bf),it's only illegal if you have sex and get caught.Age is nothing but a number, and people need to understand that their opinions on this don't matter,if it's what you want.Nobody can stop love.

Age is a funny thing. When you're young, an age difference of 2-3 years represents a huge difference in experiences and emotional, mental, and physical maturity. When you're older (probably from about mid-20s on) the differences between yourself and someone older than you aren't as significant, because you have finished your development into an adult. A relationship between a 13 and 10 year old would be shocking to me. A relationship between a 27 and 40 year old is no big deal.

Well I don't think the age gaps you describe are that big. I don't have a problem with you and your crush's ages.
As you say, if it legal and you are both adults then it's nobody business but yours.
If you are both minors, then it's your business and your parent's business, because they get a say in your dating life.
If one of you is an adult and the other is a minor ... better make sure it is JUST dating and nothing else!

Age is nothing but a number just like anything else. So don't let anybody tell you differently. Me and my boyfriend are 21 and 56. If you are of age go with what your heart says. If you both feel the same way.

the age rules are there to protect those who need to be protected age is a difficult issue and is harder to evaluate, especially with different topics such as sexual intercourse and marriage
all i can say is try and respect these laws and know they are they for people like you
