Well it depends on what drugs you are talking about, I always hear people say they can't legalize marijuana because the gov can't tax it. but what they don't know is that, there use to be a tax on "pot". If you look for the marijuana tax act , you can find out alot about it. you will find out that it is illegal mostly because of race. . In Virginia, they had to grow it. people used it as money.

Well, it all depends on the goal. If the goal is to stop drug use because it leads to dysfunctional and sometimes violent behavior, I'd be surprised if anyone thought that the prohibition was working. I can't see any significant impact of the prohibition in that regard, and to the contrary, I see it amplyfying violence and dysfunctional behavior.

I can't imagine how legallization would make that worse.

On the other hand, if the goal is to give uneducated kids a reason to shoot each other, and a means to accumulate money to buy cars, and give rappers something to glorify, I guess drugs being illegal is working fine, and there's no reason to change anything.

Do you also mean legislation on drugs like alcohol and tobacco which are scientifically proven to be highly addictive and destructive? Still, the people who have legislative powers seem to have no problems making a handsome profit from their trade. It strikes me as a bit hypocritical (and I am definitely not for the decriminalisation on all drugs, I'd just love a bit of consistency and integrity when their legislation is concerned).
A sensible legislation (including partial decriminalisation on certain soft drugs and increased penalties for certain type of drug related crimes) could lead to: less trafficking, smaller black market, lesser exposure of underage users, decrease in drug related crimes, mafia type activities and money laundering and to a serious budget increase (hence increased spending on prevention and treatment). A bad legislation can exacerbate many of these problems.

legalise drugs crime would fall wrong people wont get rich from it .most drugs are not as harm full as we are told . one of the worst drugs is alcohol . it causes all sorts of social domestic criminal problems ie drunken fathers beating up there kids drunken mother neglecting there kids louts fighting on the high streets on the weekend why is it legal and cannabis not most of the cannabis smokers i know are all chilled out people .the argument government use is lame if you smoke cannabis then it leads on to harder drugs . the first drug anybody ever does is drink alcohol so you can say that leads on to harder drugs . its stupid .i think some people in power want it to be illegal because they making some benefit from it being illegal.

Well it's a good idea.. and it should be taken seriously by the government... Because we the poor people doesn't know where this drugs has been made.. and whwt are the ingrediants... for increasing the sales of drugs the company itself spread the contigious diseases in rural areas... this will have to stop... we the people should rreact to the monopoly of the drug companies....

Drug prohibition causes violence and corruption just like alcohol prohibition did. Another benefit of legalizing drugs and selling them in stores like we do alcohol is there would be almost no accidental overdoses because people would know exactly what they are taking.
