I think you should wait, why would you want to start damaging your skin at so early at age.

Well, let's see...I think that if you are about 16, you might wear make up, Please remember that make is on thing that is not good for your skin and if you start wearing too soon will not help you at all when you get older. At 11, 12, 13 your skin is probably naturally beautiful, as your mom says. When you eventually start wearing makeup remember a couple of things. Always wash it off before you go to bed, and really take care with the basics and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. And drink lots of water ,believe me it is the best thing you can do for your skin

I think only on certain occasions because you want to look after ure skin certain make ups can harm young skin. Also people when they see a 11 year old with makeup will treat you like a rebelious teen.If you do end up wearing makeup keep it lite and natrual .Just be you.By the way some make up is ok try maybe only mascara and lipgloss.

My daughter will turn 15 in January, and I let her start wearing a little make-up when she was around 11 or 12. I didn't let her wear gobs of it to where she would look like a cheap, two-bit floozy, though. I let her wear a little tinted lip gloss and some mascara. What most young girls don't realize is that the secret to wearing make-up is for it to look natural and appear as if you aren't wearing any at all. You don't want to be wearing so much make-up to where people are looking at your "war paint" instead of your face. You don't want to wear so much of it to where you could carve your initials in it, either. It should inhance your beauty, not overpower it. But, you must realize that if your mom doesn't want you to wear any for whatever the reason, you need to respect and obey her authority. Good luck, best wishes and God bless!!!!

My 11 year old is allowed to wear brownish black mascara and lip gloss only! This was a compromise on my part for a couple of reasons: she was using my mascara anyway (and probably her friend's also!) and I am really weird about sharing makeup, so I bought her a tube of her own. I got a really bad case of pink eye sharing makeup. Also I figured that if I allowed it and set up the boundaries then hopefully she wouldn't wait until she got to school and put the makeup on anyway.

Yup, 11 is too young to start 'caking' on makeup.

NO WAY! Seriously. No.
I think 14 is the youngest that I would allow my daughter to wear makeup.
11 is way too young. This culture seems to encourage the tarting up and sexualizing of girls at younger and younger ages, with sexy clothes and make-up, etc. At 11, a girl is still a girl, and deserves to remain a girl for as long as possible. She will have the entire rest of her life to be an adult, but only a short amount of time to be a girl. I wouldn't want her to shorten her girlhood for anything.
(Yeah, I know I sound like an old fogey!)

EDITED TO ADD: Pashta and Jeff and WhoDropd... have the right idea too. Glad to see I'm not the only one here who feels this way!

Yes. I mean, if you feel bad about the way you look, and makeup will make you feel better about your self image, then why not? It's not like makeup is bad for you; these days, makeup is actually beneficial.
Just not too much. A natural look is best. Cuz then it just looks wrong, and people will start calling you stuff at school...Besides, you want people to think you naturally look that way.

All parents say that but I beleive that parents should teach their kids about makeup before they let them wear it. My mom did this to me and she started me off with some powder the eyeliner and then mascara. Just talk to your mom about it again and try to reason with her and whatever you do DON'T do it behind her back (usualy when girls your age do that the pack on the blue eyeshadow and smear layers of jet black mascara on. It's not a pretty sight) This might result in her saying that you will have to wait longer. You probably are a very pretty girl so dont worry about it just yet.

Well I get where you are coming from when I was 11 I wanted to also! I mean you shouldn’t wear a WHOLE lot. But I don’t see why a little bit is a problem. Just let your mom know that you are responsible and she might just let you! Good Luck <3!

I think it is too young. im 19 years old now and started wearing makeup since i was 11. my parents were ok with that and didnt mind me wearing it. however, if i were able to go back to being 11 i would not have worn it.
