I have never worked before. I have been ill for almost 2 years and it is going to be many more years before I am able to work again.

Sorry, but the law states that you have to be able and willing to work in order to collect unemployment money. You can go to your local office and apply for ss benefits or other programs that assist the low or 0 income for food and subsidized housing.

There's one strike against you -- right now. The fact that you haven't worked before. But, it doesn't hurt to contact your local Social Security office and inquire about federal disability. You could also contact your local welfare office and see what they can do for you.

However, probably my best suggestion -- Contact your local employment agency or workforce office -- perhaps there's a job you can do -- keeping your medical condition in mind.

Good luck!

As you have never worked before, I don't know if you would qualify for social security disability. You would qualify for some type of assistance, if your condition is as you describe. You would probably qualify for SSI, which is income for those who don't qualify for regular social security. You would probably also qualify for Medicaid to pay for your medical costs. I wish you a lot of luck and I hope they can find a way to heal you very soon.
