I went to college and graduated, but it hasn't helped me at all. I have looked for jobs all over the country but so far have not had any offers, not even an interview. I'm starting to think college was a waste of time and money. Am I right?

keep looking...

What did you get your degree in? All you need to do is get your foot in the door. It does not matter where you work and it does not mean that you need to find a job in the field where you got your degree in...

Look into doing some free internships for job experience...i did and it landed me a $25.00+ job, I graduate in three weeks...I have been maketing myself for for almost eight months...

good luck

PS no your not right...college will pay off in the long run

It depends, what kind of college did you go to and what was your concentration in? Many times, people who go to small, relatively unknown colleges have trouble getting jobs because employers don't know if they're legitimate universities or on-line colleges. I know of one person who went to a small college in Virginia, and had a lot of trouble finding jobs in California, none of her employers had heard of the school. Going to well-known colleges is often a good idea, especially if you plan on looking for jobs far outside the location of that college. I've known of people who graduated from Notre Dame and Indiana University who managed to get jobs that didn't even relate to their major field of study, mostly because their employer recognized the school and knew of its qualities. However, if you major in areas that have little demand, then your a lot less likely to find jobs in those areas or in any other areas, since you don't have that expertise.

Did/does your school have a career program? You can easily go back to your school and ask the career department to help you out, I'm sure they'd be willing.

Addition: The extracurriculur activities you're involved in also make a difference when looking for jobs. You should know, a college degree in no way guarantees success in finding jobs.

I agree. I have a master's degree and am not even using it! There are without a doubt some jobs that you really need a degree for, but alot of good jobs don't require additional education. Also, the market swamped right now. So many more people are getting higher degrees that there are too many qualified people. Soooo if you absolutely want to do a particular job and that job requires a particular degree then it is worth is, but otherwise it might help and it might not.

I think college is definitely worth the money and time. No matter what, to suceed in life you need some sort of job and most of the good-paying ones require having at least gone to college. Just wait, you will have an advantage in having gone to college and you will find a job.

I've never set foot in college. I make more money than 99% of the population. Why? Brains, guts, and good creative ideas are the answers. A degree only says that you took some courses. true learning comes from experience. Be well and good luck.

No, college is important in life. It helps you to have choices as to where you want your life to go.

Maybe you should adjust your resume and make it fit more closely with the job that you are applying for. Or, you can change your cover letter.

Try getting some books at the library on resumes and job search tips. Maybe you should widen your job search to different types of companies....

No you are not right. Maybe you need to look at why you are not getting offers. Have a professional look at your resume. Was your GPA high or low? How are your interviewing skills? Education is the key to a bright future!

Brother, I'm in the same boat. I sometimes wonder if it was worth it. I'm making just a tad more than my friends who haven't graduated college. Good luck to you!
Ps. May I ask what your major was?
