tell it to him straight like you have been - that you dont feel about him that way - expect him to be angry for a while but this is where you need to distance yourself from him for a bit....if he's a true friend he will eventually understand and then seek your friendship once again...but if he doesnt he is so not worth it...good luck

maybe when he asks/mentions it again, tell him that you don't want to be any more than best friends BECAUSE you don't want to risk the friendship by becoming more. I just got out of a 5.5 yr relationship with my best friend in July, and we couldn't even SPEAK to each other until today. I am not saying this happens every time, but there are days I wish i had not taken it to the next level with him because I want what we had before we decided to be a couple. Telling him that u dont want to risk the friendship should curb his appetite to date you. And if it doesnt...he will get over it and see the light soon enough....

Sometimes that is the Best kind of relationship to get into.
That is the way it should be ....you Should date your best friend!!
On the other hand you could....
Tell him that you value his freindship and that you hope to keep his friendship for a long time and you do not want anything jepordize that. They other guy that posted the fact that he is only friends with you because he wants to date you could be right tho!

chill kassie its all good, but just set down with him let him know you love him, your just not in love with him, there is a big diffrence between the two! most Real friends will understand and not make an issue over it, but if he does then just maybe hes been wanting you all along

why do people keep persisting in having opposite sex best friends? i mean, unless both are small children or one of them is gay, there is no hope of happily ever after best friendship.
this will happen one day, sooner or later. so just get rid of him. he is just hanging on to best friend status so he can get close to you. ewwwww!!!!!

tough..... good luck ......ask God.....
my best advice is to start out by saying that he is one of the best friends that you have ever had and as nice ly as possible tell him that you want to remain JUST HIS FRIEND
hope that helps

Let him know that you like him as a friend but I can't picture myself with him. If he can't take it then it wasn't mean't for you both to be friends.

Just say "Look I just don't want a relationship right now" and he can't value your wish about that then well....his loss.

if you be honest with your friend I think you never lose him/her.
before it try to make him/her happy and talk about many different fields, then slowly start your talking from there that is undirectly related to his/her request and then try to telling him/her your decision about the request...
