What people are thinking about when they go on television (like Dr. Phil) - and air their dirty laundry to the World! Would you do that?

There's no way I'd do that. Enough people know about my issues. No reason to bring the rest of the country in on my little secrets.

"What? go on the Springer show? I'll pass, thanks. But since you asked, you must have something you'd like to tell me, you have 25 seconds before I start beating you... 24...23..."

Can you remember a persons name that you saw or a specific face that you saw on Dr. Phil 2 months ago? No you can't. So even though it is broadcast to the world, only those who actually know the people well are going to remember them being on there. The issues that have been made public have certainly helped others who had been suffering in private. If it means that somethings that are not right will be made right, then yes I would do it especially if it would help someone I care about.

Don't confuse Dr. Phil with Jerry Springer. I would never go on Jerry Springer (or other shows like that - white trashy).

I wouldn't air my dirty laundry in public. However, I do think some people truly believe they are or will be helping someone in the audience by seeing their problem or dilemma. Other people seem to want only notoriety or want their 5 minutes of fame with no thought to how what they present on television will touch (or smear) their lives at home, work, school, their family and friends and so on.
I frequently wonder why some people have the apparent need to give everyone TMI (too much information)... on the tv or in person.

I was just thinking that today as I started watching Dr. Phil. These 2 women were discusted with each other and insulting one another saying they would like to slit the others throat etc.
All I could think of was "do you not WATCH Dr. Phil?" " Don't you already KNOW what he is going to say to you?"

hahahahhaa

I am amazed at what people will tell strangers on TV or sitting next to you in a waiting room. I would not embarrass myself or anyone who knew me on national television.

I think it's the lack of thinking & ten seconds of fame that allows people to reveal their problems to the world.

There is no way I would do that! I bury my secrets so deep that I don't even know where they are! I guess in some people want attention whether it is good or bad.
