"Do you need iTunes to put music on your iPod (Shuffle)?"
Christian, the direct answer is yes, if you are using a iPod Shuffle which is what I have. I can't answer for any other iPod though I would imagine you must also use iTunes.
Here are a couple of helpful bits of information. Have your Shuffle connected to the computer when you open iTunes. If you do not have (I believe it's) iTunes 7.0.2 a message box will pop-up if the Shuffle detects iTunes. The message box in any case will tell you that you need the newest version and give you the option to download it.
I believe the newest version of iTunes is needed so that you can get a firmware update (possibly a software update) if you have the 2nd generation Shuffle (which I do). If you have the 1st gen Shuffle and if you need to reset it there is software you can download from the Apple website. That's a whole different thing.
I hope this was helpful to you or anyone else who like me tried to put my mp3s directly onto their Shuffle. I almost went nuts trying to figure out why it wasn't playing music when I directly loaded it on my Shuffle. o_O;

If you get free downloads from limewire, transfer them onto iTunes and use that to put them on your iPod. Just open limewire and iTunes at the same time and a good drag -n- drop should do the trick.
wow i'm a nerd.

ok I just asked a question and this guy here answered and this is all u need to know about it
this is wat he told me:
if you have an ipod, you can put music on it
you can put ANY music on it
you can buy a cd from a local cd store, put it on your computer and then put them on your ipod
you can take any songs you have on yoru computer now and put them on your ipod
you can download song from limewire and put them on your ipod
you can also buy music from any music store online and put them on your ipod
if you WANT TO you can buy songs from itunes to put on your ipod, but YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY SONGS FROM ITUNES TO PUT THEM ON YOUR IPOD
sorry i used caps, i just wanted to make it as clear as possible since you dont understand how ipods work.
i have an ipod, i have over 1.500 songs on it. I HAVE NEVER bought music online or on itunes. i have bought CD's at walmart or kmart or any other cd store where you drive to the store and pick up a plastic case w/ a CD in it. those are the only CD's i buy. and i put them on my ipod
you do NOT need to buy music online to use an ipod. and the only way you CAN BUY MUSIC ONLINE IS BY USING A CREDIT CARD
if you have any more questions ask anyone who has an ipod
