i mean like the whole putting garbage in the ground thing

There are two main ways of disposing of garbage.
Landfill, the materials that can contain some very dangerous materials cause seepage into water courses etc and remain a permanent contamination of that ground.
Incineration, toxic and carcinogenic compounds can be released into the atmosphere and breathed in by humans, or by animals then passed to humans eating them. (these risks are low in properly managed systems)
The answer is recycling and there are many ways this can be done but a good way to see what can work is by looking at other countries, Singapore, for example has no landfill

Garbage can make air pollution and/or water pollution. It ruins animals' habitats and makes the world trashy. We can help prevent garbage pollution by recycling, using trash or recycling cans, and picking it up.
