I was in San Francisco getting ready to go to work in downtown SF. My building was rocking and rolling. I didn't go to work but found out later that the Flood building was damaged and no one was allowed in or out.

I tried contacting my mom because once power came back on we found out bay bridge fell and that was the normal time she would have been crossing. She wasn't on it. Thank God! she decided to do some overtime for MUNI because her relief didn't show up. When the quake hit she told her passengers that for their own sake they may want to get off and run. She was down in the financial district.

As for the Cypress structure, my uncle lived a few blocks away and he was one of the good Samaritans that helped people get down. He saw the car that was smashed and yelled to see if anyone was in there but no one answered. When fire department showed up he pointed them towards the car. It happened to be the one that had the young mother, her sister and her two children in it. The adults didn't survive but the children were pulled from the wreckage.
