will car wax work on repairing scratched CD's/DVD's?

i use pledge sometimes it works real well.

No it will make the disc slippery and waxy(funnily enough). The laser will be distorted and unable to read the disc. most disc doctors use a liquid which main ingredient is spring water, which is then rubbed onto the surface of the disc gently with a disc wipe/cloth. But I have not found these to always be successful.
