What species are they? (There is no species usually called the 'brazil turtle'). If you describe it we can try to identify it, or you can try the 'World of Turtle gallery' at the site below.

Most water turtles want 10 gallons of water per inch of shell (if you have, say, 3 2" turtles, you need 60 gallons of water- note that this is not a 60 gallon tank- it is a 100 gallon tank with 60 gallons of water in it! They also need basking sites that let them climb out of the water and dry off, sunning in good lighting with UV rays.

If a water turtle does not have enough room or basking sites, they will not develop properly. Baby turtles especially need lots of room to develop- 2" is awfully shallow for most species.

most likely. i don't really know much about turtles, but i'm guessing that they're simply coming up for air.

yes. i have an african sideneck and he does it all the time. and most turtles do it. they get air and bask that way. hope i helped!
