I was thinking about getting AIM because I want to IM my friends. But I have to convince my parents to get me it. But it is it dangerous, like the news says it is? And if it isn't all dangerous, which parts are? Thanks

It can be dangerous but it's not dangerous if you only give your friends your screen name and when someone you don't know who isn't on your buddy list ims you you have a choice of accepting the im or declining it. It can only be dangerous if you talk to someone you do not know and give away too much information. It's not AIM that is dangerous it's people on AIM who are dangerous.

i'm not sure what the news says about AIM b/c i don't live in the US at the moment, but i don't see how it's dangerous as long as you only write to people you know and don't look for peoples screenames in chat rooms or anything. it is a great way to keep in contact w/ your friends. maybe if your parents put a time limit on your use of it, say something like 1 hour a night after you get done your homework.
