Believe it or not, I've actually had this happen to me a couple of times. The first time I dropped it in a lake and had to swim down 15 feet or so to retrieve it. The second time I was fishing for striped bass on Block Island, and was in the water up to my waist. I forgot that I had my cell phone attached to my belt.
In both cases (yes, even with the salt water from the ocean) I was able to salvage the phone. The first thing to do is remove the battery from the phone. Also, remove the antenna, as water can be trapped in there as well. Then wipe all parts of the phone with a dry cloth. Now lay the parts out with the phone upright so that water can drain out of it. After a few days of drying, reassemble the phone, and it should work.
Best of luck.

I'm gonna say that it won't work anymore. I have an Ex GF who has dropped her cell phone into the same toilet twice in the past 6 months. Both times it never worked again. She had Nextel so I think it was a Motorola. You'd think she'd have learned from the first time :)

Yes! I just bumped mine in the toilet today and I immediately pull the battery out so do the same and dry it out as much as possible and use a blow dryer but warm setting (not hot) to help it dry out sooner and for now my cell phone is over a warm vent for an hour and then let it sit 3 days on a dry suface to dry out completely so hopefully it will work after the fact this is only my land phone too. ;o)
Good ~Luck !

It really depends on what type of phone you have and if it was completely submerged in water and for how long. I've dropped my phone in a cup of juice twice and it still works. Try waiting at least a day and a half, then see if it works.

hear, i'm a cell telephone technician !Take the battery off!! Then permit a expert cell telephone technician do the cleansing. I repeat!! this is ultimate which you permit a technician do the cleansing. do no longer below any circumstances attempt to instruct on the telephone till this is carefully wiped sparkling via a technician. Water residue can corrode your telephone's board if left uncleaned. Water that condensed interior the lcd can in basic terms be bumped off in case you completely take aside the unit. Letting it dry out for many days will in basic terms broken your telephone ultimately.. spend somewhat for restore except you're making plans to purchase a sparkling telephone.

I had the same problem once, dropped it into the toilet bowl.
All I did was dry it off, took it home and let in sit in the Sun to
completely dry out and it's still working 3 years later.
Don't put it into the Microwave, you will FRY IT!
I also used my hairdryer on it to get inside with heat.
Good Luck.

Probably not. I dropped mine in the toilet when it was still under warranty. They asked me if it got wet and I said OH NO it just stopped working. They then took off the back and there is a little thingy there that was pink. and I had the biscuit. You see its supposed to be white but when it gets wet it goes pink to catch people like me .... But who knows, dry it out for a couple of days and you might get lucky.

My husband dropped his in the river while he was fishing
he picked it up and screen was blank, before he finished
fishing that same day, he dropped it two more times in the
same river. He laid it on a rag on top of our dryer for a day
or two while we dried clothes. About 3 days later, it worked
fine. That was a year ago. Still working.

That's a silly place to drop a cell phone.
Turn it off and take out the battery immediately, wait for everything to be COMPLETELY dry before you turn it back on.
good luck
