I really cannot see how the word holiday is insulting...could it possibly be that you are merely whining because others are actually exercising their right to freedom in religion in the same way that Christians have been doing for an awful long time?
holiday is not religiously specific...and we all have the right to eat turkey and give gifts on December 25th for whatever reason we want...it doesn't have to have anything to do with Christ..it's just a nice tradition..like Thanksgiving...that I choose to participate in.
You can call it whatever you please, that's your right..but don't think for even a second that just because you 'believe' it makes you any more right than me...

Christmas is a holiday (holy-day) rather or not you are a Christian. Take time off and reflect on the meaning of Christmas and encourage others to do the same. The definition of Holiday follows, Christmas definately qualifies.

I thought Christmas was a holiday. Don't people get holiday pay for Christmas? To me a holiday is a day set aside to make that particular day more special than any other day, like all the other holidays that we celebrate each year. So what's the problem?

Several other religions celebrate their special holiday in either late November to beginning of January, from Ramadan to Kawanzaa. You have Christmas, Kawanzaa, Hanaka, Yule, etc etc.

Why do so many christians assume that everyone else is? Some folks are genuinely offended by this country's obsession with xmas, while their "holidays" are intentionally ignored. I just find it annoying and am disturbed by the self-absorbed face we show the rest of the world.

can't we all just get along?
seriously christmas MAY be about christ (i'm not saying it is or not) but ya know what? christians are told to be like christ. Christmas to me is about spending time with family and friends and letting them know you love them. It's also about helping those less fortunate in whatever way you can. (doesn't that sound christ like? i think it does) There are atheists and nonchristians that do celebrate christmas like that. Just like there are some christians who don't..
yeah i'm not gonna even try explaining this. people only hear/believe what they want to hear/believe.

Maybe it's time for Christians to get over it. Why is Christmas a Christian day? Can you quote to me the passage in the Bible that tells Christians to celebrate the day of Christ's birth? In fact, the Bible is so entirely silent on the subject that we had to GUESS when Christ might have been born (and got it wrong). Most of the traditions associated with Christmas come from cultures that were deliberately destroyed by Christianity. How's that for ironic? Christmas has never had anything but a veneer of Christianity to begin with. It's time to take the "Christ" out of Christmas!
Plus, I think that Christians just like to feel picked-on.

They are not Christian . it is Holiday for them, and no insult to christians who want to dominate the season as if the other people were not celbrating the winter holiday.
