One 'tool' is used to apply pressure to the cylinder as if you were turning a key. Other 'tool' is used to press tumblers to align them so cylinder will turn. See link.

Remember that locks keep honest people honest. Knowing how to pick locks is a great service to people that need help. BUT, in the wrong hands, can lead to NO GOOD.

another thing t okeep in mind is if you get caught with a lock pick and no locksmith licence you can be charged with possesion of burglary tools
