Of course I believe in "Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world."

Oh wasn't it so easy back then to believe in things like Santa
I use to lay a wake Christmas night and was sure i could hear bells ring. i would get up at the window and look out side to see if i could see Santa and his rain dears flying in the sky.
then i would go back to bed and i would end up going to sleep until my brother would wake me early in the morning to say "Santa's been " I use to believe then but not any more
May God bless you and have a great day

Isn't it curious that we say Santa Claus?
The term SANTA is feminine.
In England they call him Father Christmas.
His actual name was Nicolas.
Upon his death the Catholic Church ordained him a saint.
There are two manners of addressing a male saint- San or Santo. For example, San Francisco or San Diego. The second example is Santo Domingo.
Children had difficulty in pronouncing San Nicolas (say it several times fast) and you end up with SanNicolas, or San'ty Claus. Because most Americans are not Catholic they commericalized Christmas because of the Children's story, Twas the Night before Christmas. The English had no problem with calling the man, San Nick, Saint Nick, San Nicolas, but the Americans coined his name as SANTA CLAUS.
Did he exist? Yes, he did.
He lived in Lappland (Sweden).
Among the Lapplanders the only means of winter transport was by sleigh pulled by caribu (known by Americans as reindeer). Thus, Nick traveled around by sleigh pulled by two reindeer. On Christmas Eve he would enter houses and place toys and treats in long winter stockings hung by the chimney. Being a man of means his fame quickly spread around Christiandom. His custom quickly spread to other philanthropists.
Does he exist? Yes, in our memories.

I do not--I am 22. But I have a funny story. When I was 13 and my sister was 17 I had to tell "her" that Santa was not real. Lol Lol And she was serious.

When I am with young children - under the age of 10, or anyone that believes = I do believe, because I am not going to ruin a child's life, and have the parents mad at me.
