they're all the same thing. Norton McCafree (symantec) let 3 trojans slip into my system, and I got a virus. Avast found and removed them all, Norton is better than nothing, but not much. Try Avast or AVG (both free) way better protection.

yes you can uninstall norton, I did

Symantec by far. I have Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition and it is good. Sure it slows down my comp., but McAfee does not detect anything.

Symantec, in my opinion, is more comprehensive and also a bit more user friendly.

I got a BAD infection one time when I was using McAfee so I just do not use it ANYMORE period...

If you really want to spend money on security, you can choose one of these or Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security, which is really good. Both are pretty decent, but I know free programs on the net that do better work than these. Some are:
SpyCatcher Express
Spybot-Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner
Advanced WindowsCare
AVG Antivirus Professional

Search www.download.com for each of these to get the best results.

Good Luck

Both of those programs are real dogs, they will cause more problems than they solve! Do a google search for AVG, and spy bot search and destroy. Both of these programs are free and work better combined than Norton, or McAfee ever will!

Symatec is the worst program I know! McAfee is better, but not excellent. Here you have some good and free options: http://askcomputerexpert.ws43.com/download/security.htm

My favorite antiviruses are Avast and AVG. They both are free, and both update automatically. Norton and McAfee both will eat your system resources for breakfast. Check out the following sites:
