Very much depends on the burner... is it internal, or external?
If it's external, then it probably connects via one of the computer's USB ports.
If it's internal, then you fit it in an empty bay, and (usually) connect it to a spare port on one of the IDE busses, then hook up one of the many spare power connectors laying around inside the case.

In either case, there will be support and driver software included in the box.

Note that there are a number of other possible options, less often encountered... and that you don't say what kind of burner, what kind of computer, what operating system... but, for a general question, you get a general answer....and I normally charge by the hour for the more arcane kind of skill :-)

confident, you ought to purchase an exterior DVD burner, yet you particularly could in basic terms use an exterior DVD burner in case you have USB 2.0 or Firewire connections to it on your pc, in any different case the burn speed won't be quickly adequate.. bruning DVD"s desires a lots greater throughput than burnng CD's because of the fact your're sending lots greater records to the externalchronic.

Three kinds of burners
1) IDE Cable - internal
2) SATA - internal
3) USB - external
Pay attention to installation instructions as to correct jumper settings and where to place on IDE cable.
