When you are lying in bed at night and you think "WOW, what a great day!" what is it that usually makes you the happiest?

Gee, kid, you don't ask very difficult questions do you? OK, let's give this a shot.
First off, you can have a great day because of things on so many different levels, from Earth-shaking important to the most trivial.
---If you've got family or friends serving in the Middle East, and they've come home healthy and in one piece, and you've picked them up at the airport today, that would certainly make for a beautiful day.
---An expectant mother who has just gone through several hours of labor and is now looking down into the eyes of her newborn child would probably tell you that in spite of everything, she's had a beautiful day.
---Maybe on a smaller scale, if there's a test (say in algebra) that you've studied hard for, and were expecting to get maybe an 80 on it, and when you get it back you got a 95, I'm sure that would brighten your day.
Briefly other, maybe more minor things that might give you a WOW moment--
---Spending a fun day at the Magic Kingdom...
---Watching Sidney Crosby put on a hockey clinic at the Mellon Arena and the Pittsburgh Penguins bury some unlucky opponent. That works for me...feel free to plug in your own favorite team.
---Having a whole day alone with somebody you are really close to and doing things that are important and enjoyable only to the two of you...OK, I'm from Pittsburgh, that should be the "two of yinz."
---Going to the animal shelter and picking out a new puppy.
That's only a few...I could go on for hours, as could anyone else. You'll get more from other people here. Good luck with your report or project or whatever it is that you need these answers for.

happiest? i dont know. but the little things like waking up a few minutes before the alarm without still being tired & knowing you'll see someone you love in a while makes it a good morning(:

I think the answer to this is relative to your current situation.
For me now, a great beautiful day would be one where I didn't have to worry about my son who is chronically ill or my mom who is in the CCU following a heart attack.
