Soap on a rope??? Am I missing something here?

In the prison I bet soap on a rope is very much wanted commodity to have. :) But in general, soap on a rope it is really not needed unless the person is blind while taking a shower,.

1. Soap on a Rope can be hung around the neck while in the shower, making it possible to close one's eyes and have both hands free (such as for shampooing) without having to grope around for the bar.
2. It is popular with men because these soaps are often scented with men's fragrances.

It was sold as a novelty item long time ago. And men didn't buy it, it was given to them as gifts. I remember getting my dad a soap on a rope for Fathers Day.

It was a big gimmick in the 80's for brands like old spice, Brut and stetson. The time when alot of people where doing coke, and insider trading it would be a good joke to try and get people to get right or you will be using it in prison

Haha, that's a good question.
I'm thinking it's so they don't have to bend down and get the soap if they drop it.
I heard it started in prison though.

It's for prisoners so they can't drop the soap.

Because they are stupid and they probably have been in jail and don't want to drop the soap(ha ha ha).
