First, you got a lot of things confused. A knot is a nautical mile per hour. So one does not travel at 20 knots per hour; it does not make sense.
So a knot is 1.150779 mile (statute) per hour.
What we do not know is if the distance between the two ports is in statute or nautical miles. Sea distance are usually expressed in nautical miles, same for aviation.
So, making those assumptions (3300 nautical mile) and given that one ship travels at 26 knots, it will then take 126.9 hours. The other one, sailing at 20 knots, will require 165 hours. Difference: 38.1. Answer to the nearest hour is thus 38.

Convert the 3,300 miles to knots by dividing by 1.15. Then divide this number by 20 and 26 to figure out how long each trip takes.

44 Hours (to the nearest hour);
43.78846154 (8 decimal places); or
43 hours, 47 minutes, 18 seconds.

Yes, you have said 3,300 miles and provided the conversion factor of 1.15 which is accurate to 2D. Since you also provided the conversion factor I assumed the distance was in miles, not nautical miles. Yes, there is a difference between nautical miles (distance) and knots (speed = nautical miles per hour).

First multiply 20 and 26 by 1.15 to convert from knots to miles per hour. Then since time = distance divided by rate, divide 3300 by each of your answers, then subtract them to see how much sooner.

make use of the the formula: distance = rate * time

rearange so you have time = distance/time

so the time it takes each ship is the distance / that ships rate
for ship A : t = 3300 miles/ 20 knots
and for ship B: t = 3300 miles/ 26 knots.

the difference between the two answers is about 38.1. So the answer is 38 hours

time taken=distance/speed
time taken byship 1=3300/(20*1.15)
=143.48 hrs
timetaken by ship 2=3300/(26*1.15)
=110.37 hrs
difference =143.48-110.37
=33.11 hrs
ship B will arrive 34 hours ahead of ship A
