It depends on how often it's doing it and when. Do you also have a check engine or service engine soon light? If not, then this is your only "dummy" light. It could be a number of things besides your gauges. Go to your local AutoZone and ask them to pull your engine codes for free. If its coming on after you start up then it goes off after a while of driving, your EGR valve could be sticking due to carbon build up - it'll take a socket and some b12 chemtool to clean up. If you do have those other lights, then it is your gauges. Pay close attention to your battery meter during startup and when it's lit up and also your temp gauges. Your battery meter should be closer to 14 than 12 and the temp gauge shouldn't be higher than the middle. Also, before you do anything, check your coolant level and battery (if you have the tester, if not, have the autozone guys do it.) They can also check your battery/alternator at the same time. We really need more info about how it idles/drives; anything seem different? But I'm just a girl - go have someone look at it for free...
'93 is OBD I (on board diagnostic - referring to the type of computer in it); OBD II came around '96 - they have both testers there. Albeit the obd I tester is just a paperclip in most cases... you just count the number of times the light flashes between giving you the 12 code. Then you look it up in their computers or a haynes/chilton manual.

I have the same kind of car and my check gage light comes on also. Some people say it may be the oxygen level in the car. I have no idea. Mines been doing it for years now and it still runs. I just got all my hoses done because they were all rotten to the tea. That light still comes on. But one thing about this car is that it cuts off when I am driving it too long. Something is getting hot and making my car stops. I wait about 30mins or more and it starts running again. It will still start regardless but when I put it into drive it will not move until it has sat. It is so weird. My temp doesn't even say its hot. A service person says the computer is making it stop because it is telling the car that its overheating.
