Personally things that I'm familiar with help me concentrate. If I know the song it's easier to have it in the background than if a new song comes on. New songs steal my concentration and make me want to listen. Familiar songs drown out all the unknown distractions in the background but don't take my focus away.

Any of Johann Sebastian Bach's music. There are no lyrics, which usually end up distracting me. The music is also intricate, with lots of scales that intertwine making it complex to hum. Pop or rock music with simple melodies and lots of words tend to be distracting because I end up wanting to sing along or hum along. Bach's music is pleasant enough that I can enjoy listening to it while allowing it to sink to the back of my mind.
