There is an arrivals dock at nearly all airports. Normally that is where you would meet the person getting off the plane. You would then go and get the bags etc. It depends if it is an oversead trip or not, but if the person is comming in from over seas then they need to line up to be checked by customs.

Good luck with the story

Park in short-term and meet at the baggage claim. This was really tricky when we had a car service pick us up since we had a large animal crate with a dog. The driver had to keep circling the airport waiting for our call and we had to be waiting outside because even a car service only has 30 seconds or so to load luggage and move along. Three of us were hurrying as fast as we could to load the crate and the rent-a-cop came by and got kind of nasty about moving along.

At SFO you can't stay too long outside of arrivals. The officers will tell you to keep moving. The best way is to park in short term area and proceed to baggage claim. I haven't been through there in awhile but I do know most airports won't allow you to meet right as soon as they exit the plane. So the best bet is baggage claim. You check on the boards overhead to see where the luggage for the flight will come in at. That's the best place to meet up with friends/family.

That's very simple. The passenger disembarks the aircraft, takes airbridge or stairs, goes through immigration desk where his passport/viza is checked. In some countries he is also submitted to an eye scan or finger scan. After passing the customs checks, he will pick up his luggage from the rotating belt and he is free to go out. Lost and found bureau is also located here, between customs and exit. In the airports, at Arrivals, there is a common area where visitors are allowed to enter and to wait for their friends. This is where our passenger will be exiting.

To make it simple:
When passenger arrives: disembark, custom checks, luggage belt, Arrivals

And, when passenger will travel back: Departures, luggage x-rayed, airline desk - obtaining ticket and checking-in luggage, custom checks, cabin luggage x-rayed, embark aircraft.

Good luck with your story!
