You guys are crazy. Do your research first before writing any answer here. That high school and Michael Jordan stuff are what you hear from other people.

No it's not true.

He changed his number a couple of months ago. He changed it to number 24 because he thinks he is another Micheal Jordan. Nobody is going to be another Micheal Jordan except Micheal Jordan himself. Kobe Bryant is Kobe Bryant. Yea he made 81 points last season in a game but he is also a ball hog. Watch some of the Lakers games and you will see that he has the ball the most and wont pass it.

Mamba is right on. He feels that half his career is over (10 seasons under his belt) and is ready for the next 10 so new #. Just for the record, his high school # was 33 for Lower Merion... I have a few basketball cards from his high school days and he was #33

he changed it from 8 to 24 this year. He says it's because he wore it in high school....but I think it's because he wants to be one up on Jordan. 24-23.

All of you peeps are all giving these reasons and doing research when no one really knows except for him. He pretty much changed it because he wanted to, though.
