It goes something like this the pilgrims were going through their first winter in the new land and they were still a little green around the gills and how to do things, so most of them were starving and many did die. Some Indians I believe it was the Abnaki that took pity on them and taught them all they needed to know. After that they had a good harvest and invited the Indians to join them.

the Greeks did it first. Yes, they celebrated a feast of thanksgiving. Yes, they celebrated it in November. Yes, the celebration involved a banquet. Yes, there was a Thanksgiving Day parade. There you have it -- Thanksgiving Day, Greek style.

The Greeks called their Thanksgiving Day ELEUTHERIA, and they celebrated it in the month they called Maemacterion (November on our calendar). They did not, however, feast on turkey. Their "kill" to be shared by all present at the banquet was a black bull -- much more practical since the whole town was expected for dinner.

The Greek Thanksgiving Day was started after the battle of Plataea, 479 B.C. Every year, on the 16th day of the month of Maemacterion, a procession through town would start at dawn, at the signal of a trumpet. The procession was followed by wagons decorated with myrtle boughs (cf. out Thanksgiving Day parade floats decorated with roses and flowers), the black sacrificial bull and young free youths (cf. the marching groups of young people in our Thanksgiving Day parades).

Uh...yeah it did you freakin' uneducated retard. You think it didn't because some commie lib professor in college or high school was teaching you his opinions rather than documented fact. Why don't you go find yourself a real history book...one written prior to 1985 and doesn't have more references to Bill Clinton than Abe Lincoln then come back and we'll talk!!!

it was a decoy to get the indians full of food and drunk so they would sign a peace treaty or a land grant so the pilgrim man would be on top.
