I want to talk to my friend in an other country would using a webcam be a good option. Also what are they, and how do you use them

they are a way of taking live video and sending it as data over the internet. the person watching on the other end can "see" you and watch you as you talk, type, dance or whatever you happen to be doing.

they are easy to use and most simply plug into a usb port on your pc.

They are quite cheap-about £15 $20 or thereabouts. You plug it into the pc, installl the software which is supplied. When your friend does the same you can see and talk in real time if you also have a microphone. There can be a little timelapse of a couple of seconds depending on connection speeds. It like chatting on the phone but you can watch each other "live" also.

Above good answers. A webcam is like a small video camera. Only it not have storage and send the video to your computer to transmit over the Inet. Mine has a button on top and I can take a picture too in jpg format and save it.

Both of you guys get an AIM screename and get AIM 6.0 then talk to each other and click video it will detect your webcam then you can see each other
