The best way to learn about the fantastic game is to watch ball after ball day after day.

You'll see the confrontations of bowler v batsman see the field placings, see the tactics evolve and see some great action.

Great to see a cricket convert. Enjoy!

Well done on trying to get into the greatest sport in the world..but your question is a little like asking Einstein to explain the theory of relativity in a couple of sentences!

Even the biggest fans of cricket admit that it is a pretty complicated sport and far from easy for newcomers to understand. It takes a long time to fully understand it, and maybe even longer to appreciate it.

But anyone who is keen to learn from scratch deserves encouragement . I suggest you get someone who is into the sport to take you to a match ..but for starters here is a website which explains the basics of cricket in a simple manner , and is designed for complete begginners: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/hosking/cricket/explanation.htm
