Yes it is and we are all going to burn in hell get a life!
You should go to hell why? because:
You kill animals to eat them, you're going to hell
Ever killed a fly? that's murder you're going to hell
Ever had sex outside marriage? that's a sin too, burn!
If you consider everything that is meant to be a sin then the question that you should ask is not "Am I going to hell?" but rather "Who IS going to heaven?"

I'm assuming that you're asking for a Christian viewpoint, not people's opinions here...
But even then it's not a "mortal" sin. It's mentioned fewer than 10 times in the Bible, never by Jesus. Most of the passages generally cited as being against homosexuality are actually misinterpreted...for example, Sodom and Gomorrah is about the sin of not being hospitable. Most of the New Testament translations are inaccurate and refer to men being feminine, not sleeping with other men. Romans does refer to homosexuality as a sin...and then goes on to say that the sins other people commit are no more serious than the sins we commit and we should be forgiving of them. Leviticus refers to homosexuality as an "abomination," but it uses the same word to describe eating shellfish and goes on to state that men who cut their hair around their temples should be killed.
In short, nobody follows the Bible exactly, and it's important to remember that the overasll message is one of love and acceptance.
So, some people might argue that homosexuality is a sin, but it's in the same class as eating shrimp cocktails. You decide whether it's that serious.

The bible is quite clear that having sex with anyone you are not married to is 'wrong', so therefore in that respect, homosexuality is wrong, or a sin. However many people choose to do the wrong thing in life, which is why God offers forgiveness. Sinning doesn't keep you out of heaven. Failing to accept God's free gift of forgiveness does.

I'm sure it says somewhere in the bible that homosexuality is a sin.
God pardons all sins (but i think this is on the understanding that you don't knowingly/willingly repeat said sin)
Don't worry yourself, BE yourself! I think God would be more upset if you wasted the precious life you have been gifted. TC.

If you're asking me, no. Not at all.
But, if you're asking the book of Leviticus, then yes. And so is getting a tattoo, planting a grass seed mixture in one's front lawn, wearing a cotton-polyester shirt, eating shellfish, munching on some barbequed pork ribs, or eating supper with a person who follows another religion.
Leviticus prescribes a whole bunch of crap that people never bother with anymore; it's just the part about homosexuality being an "abomination" that they continue to latch onto. Why? Because they're bigots, and looking for some external justification of their virulent hatred.

ps : sorry, if my english is terrible since english not my mother language, i hope everybody still get the point .
Without any intention to judge the homosexuals as mortal sinner, i would like to bring our mind into the right path on universe.
Everything in the world would be run smooth run and clear if human (who is claim by itself as the most jenious creature among others on earth) follow the path if nature. Can you see nature had gave us many positif thought bout how to life in harmony as a part of nature. If there is a disaster against the universe that must be caused by fatal error on universe members
Universe teach us why we must be run in pairs, male and female, man and woman, night and day. So what i am trying to say is human can live alone or live with their opposite sex, everything was perfect, Dont try to make it grey with your (homosexual) concept, just learn from nature and avoid the mortal sin concept, you wont find male dog shagged the male also ;-)
additional
Sex was created not for pleasure but the important thing is procees to birth a better generation. I'm imagine when world full of homesexual then disaster no longer to chaos, No wonder, in future, i guess, animal will have a sense a morality.

Yes being gay is a sin, God made Adam and Eve not 2 Adams or not 2 Eves... God does not pardon homosexuality... Even our bodys are made for the opposite sex partners, think about it the back door is a exit, so how do 2 men have sex normally, 2 women while there is no body part except fingers, even animals are attracted to the opposite sex partners. So from the very beginning it was for a man to be with a woman not a man. Sorry to make someone upset but the question did ask me for my opinion

NO it is NOT!!! Or at least that is what I believe! God made all humans gay and str8, yes I believe that God made gays - well Gay! So if I believe that I have to believe that God would not send something he made to Hell. God pardons all who ask for forgiveness both gays and str8s, nobody is without sin so as long as you mean it God will forgive you! Do you know that there is nothing bad said about gays in the New Testament while Jesus walked the earth - He loved everyone, prostitutes, gays. gentiles, men, women, children, everybody. It's only in the Old Testament where they say that it is bad to be gay and the Old Testament has a lot of teachings that are open to interpretation if ones does not interpret what is written correctly then one could get very confused and do some pretty bad things. *hugs* JAC<

I'm not a believer in god, however, isn't god supposed to be all forgiving etc etc? The bible was written a long time ago and as we know history is written and changed to appeal to the morals of the time. Times change.
I'm gay and if being gay is a sin then so be it. If this "god" exists and is supposed to be all forgiving then the more I "SIN" then the more I can be forgiven.
IVAN B: It is well known that it is not gay men and women that are spreading AIDS as fast as it is becomming it is STRAIGHT people. If you think because you're straight you won't get AIDS then be my guest and have lots and lots of unprotected sex.

Homosexuality is more of a mistake than an inborn inclination to sin. So it's as hard to conceive of a God that makes mistakes as it is to conceive of one that make sinners and then punishes them for sinning. But it does seem that homosexuals are punished by mortals for what, metaphorically speaking, was God's mistake.
So homosexuality is likely a mortal sin only if you define sin as something conceived by mortals.

Like religion itself, the concept of "homosexuality being a sin" is man-made. All religious texts which condemn homosexuality were written by mankind, and were based on mankind's account/perception of God's word. The phenomenon of Chinese whispers dictate that anything written by mankind is subject to misunderstanding/miscomprehension. The only perfect "book of God" would be one which was written by God.
