What is even better is a wife who has a husband she loves enough to obey. The word obey is probably what people have trouble with right now. Follow might be a better one. I happen to agree - the old values were there for a reason. Also, there was actually a time when people did not walk around with their hands pasted to their ears. They did not yell into small pieces of plastic in restaurants and they stopped when they accidentally ran over each other. Times change, but yes, I agree - the old values were wonderful. - Chris.

Which old values? How far back do you want to go? Do we only have one wife? Historically the norm was for polygamy. Do we beat our wives for misbehavior? Do we sell our daughters for a bride price?

By making the Man the master of the house, you make the woman the servant. Great for the man, but it sucks for the woman. You would probably be a kind and charitable husband, but what about the women who didn't have good men. You take away the woman's power, and she becomes less than human in some eyes. NO we should not return to a fantasy life that never really existed. The times were only better by men's points of view.

Because in this modern world everybody has equal rights (well more or less) and i think that is the way it should be, why should women have to bow down for men, they are not the dominant sex, if they were they would be the ones having babies and the babies would be bloody massive!!! women have the right to have their say and why shouldn't they, i have never understood all this the women should stay at home and the men should go to work crap, i am glad that i have a partner who wouldn't dream of treating me like that, for a start i would kick him straight into touch and he knows it, i have the right to have a happy life without the restraints of somebody Else's ideals put upon me as does everybody else. plus the fact it's mostly men who are unemployed bums who have these kind of thoughts, they expect their woman to run around after them and do whatever they say, yet they are not living up to their end of the bargain which is to take care of their wives and children and provide them with the home, love and respect they deserve, they are losers who sit at home on their backside, half the time expecting the wife to answer to their every whim and then go out and bring home the bacon as well, i think men with this kind of attitude are the ones that end up being wife beaters because they can't get their own way and are also psychotic!!!

because society has moved in a different direction. old traditions are useless in the modern world. i mean, while many will disagree we have come a long way since the days of Puritan society where one could get hanged if they looked at someone funny.

also while some old values such as honesty and respect should be pioneered, it doesn't make it a better society. were we a better society in the early 1800s?,1900s? i doubt it.

by the way, you're chauvanistic attitude is incredibly outdated and backward. it would do you some good to become acquainted with the world of today.

Because the world is a different place. And that era in which women obeyed men was centuries ago, because I had some liberated grandmothers.

I was thinking you should join the Mormons, but as Angel said Islam would be good for you also.

Kitchen & the bedroom? Maybe if you can make enough money by yourself to support a family. Can you? The reality is that's not the case anymore. You could move to Utah. There are still plenty of them out there, Good luck.

I agree with you. Back to the days when men were men and women were glad of it! I would gladly stay at home and cook and wash and clean and mind the babies while my husband goes to work to keep me in Woodbines and nappies.Gotta go my husband has just ordered me into the bedroom !!

I agree that we should to a certain level, but the line has to be drawn somewhere...Obey isn't my choice of words, respect is more tolerable..
