It might not be your favorite book & it might not be the first book you read, but can you remember a book that seemed to open the world at your feet? One that impressed you for whatever reason & one that made you almost see the places & people in your mind?

Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving!

There are so many.I read a book about 3 years ago by Amy tan called God's wife kitchen that really opened my mind and my imagination, and since I have read all her books. She has an amazing ability as a writer to some how make you believe as you are reading that you are right there. If she describes a blossom tree, whether what it looks like or smells like, you feel as if you can really smell it,and you can picture it like it's right in front of you.Oh yeah, happy thanksgiving to you too!!!!!!

"Firestarter" by Stephen King... I devoured that book as quickly as I possibly could! I loved everything about it: the cover, the words, the story, the characters...
I can still remember the smile on my face after I finished it, the killer headache, and the endorphin rush! It was very wonderful! The book has a special place in my heart...
It also opened me up to Stephen King's books, which I love!!
Also, I discovered a little bit of myself in that book and I realized what type of books I like because I was feeling like sh*it (excuse my language) during that period what with confidence issues, depression, dissappointments, etc....
Thanks for reminding me of that wonderful book! Brought back good memories... And happy Thanksgiving to you too! I'm stuffed... :-)

That would be the first Stephen King book I read, which was called 'The Eyes of the Dragon' ~ bought it when I was thirteen and loved Stephen King ever since!

I also learned, by reading his books, how to really picture a detailed scene, because he goes so much into detail :)

happy thanksgiving to u to!! lol i know u are probably going to get this a lot but i would have to say harry potter. i think it is proably the book that has opened up antibody's imagination the most! these books plainly just make you feel like you are part of their magic community! even when they talk about muggles, you don't feel like a muggle, you feel like a wizard or a witch, you feel like harry in the third book. you're there when everything is happening, you just can't talk to them, i love these books cause your always there with the characters, its like when there thinking they're talking to you!! lol but you can see that i love these books!! well thanks for posting a knowledgeable question instead of those which celebrity is hotter questions!

I have read so many books that have opened my imagination. Fiction, Science Fiction, Biographies, History, They all play out like a film in my head.
I'm usually disappointed when a film is made from a book I have read because it always disappoints me. My version is better.

Memoirs of a Geisha. It was SO well written, the imagery was excellent. I didn't see the movie because I didn't want to ruin it. And April Fool's Day by Bryce Courtenay was really good too, about his son who died of AIDS after a blood transfusion. That was really sad..
