Rates and ratios are both divisions, or fractions.
Ratios generally have the same type of units. Rates usually have different units.
Solutions are performed in the same way.

a rate is the continious increasing or decreasing in number, which goes in a linear equation on a graph.a ratio is an average percent of a group of numbers divided by a number to make a percentage

rate is usually defined as a change in one variable corresponding to a change in another variable. hence it is also a ratio as it is of the form "a/b".
