PSAPI.DLL is the Process Status Helper, in particular psapi.dll is a library file which provides support for process status. It is not malware. This information comes from ProcessLibrary.com. It is a great website, just enter in the process or .dll name and it will display details for the process, including what the process or .dll does, where it appears and if it poses a security risk. The site comes in handy when you come across a file you don't recognize. The site is at: http://www.processlibrary.com/
The webpage for psapi.dll is http://www.processlibrary.com/directory?files=+PSAPI.DLL++ (go to the webpage for more information about the file)

It may be harmless, but run a cleanup to be sure. If it's something you need, Avast will leave it in there.
Avast got rid of 3 trojans in my system that got past Norton. You have to uninstall norton first, then install avast. it's free for home use. Oh, and don't delete anything that says "system".
Spybot is also good at getting rid of stuff., and so is CleanUp.
My system runs better than ever after running these 3 things.
