Wow, many people say horrible things about blacks! All we wanted was equality and respect. It seems like poeple in the whole world have some type of hate towards blacks, and now here in the US, they're putting blacks against hispanics when we are pretty much up the same creek without a paddle when it comes to jobs, socioeconomic status, etc. Please be brutally honest, because I really want thorough answers to this question.

People say horrible things about blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, everyone...i do see what you are saying, but blacks and hispanics have come a long way. we should really stop dwelling or worrying about what people say or think about us. we have all made great strides in this world and this country. We should just focus on what we have accomplished and how far we have come. Just imagine how it would be if the world was still how it was during segregation. hell, im happy where we are now. im not happy about having to always be challenged to defend myself because im a certain color, but i definitely shut alot of people up when i do. we will always be fighting for our place, but we have definitely established ourselves and our position in this world and country. Look forward, not back. appreciate..........people who are racist against any race should be insurmountably ashamed of themselves

Slavery needed to be justified when it was used, so the people in the trade convinced others that the Africans were an inferior race. It made it an easier concept to digest. That's how it started, and you can read up through history as to how racism against blacks got to where it is today. Even people within the race believed some of the views, which is why the whole "paper bag" comparison was made for skin tones (the closer to the color of a paper bag, the "better" you were).

It's stupid to hate people because of their skin color, and any logical thinker will agree with you. However, being black is more than just being a color- it's also a culture, and it's way easier to hate people of a culture different from your own. As with any negative stereotype, we have the people who give racists ammunition to justify believing the stereotype to thank. As long as YOU recognize that it's all crap, you can affect the people in your life by helping them to see through the crap as well.

Because this doesn't prove my point that blacks are just as racist at all... It should be considered racist if you ask why blacks in general are hated... because they aren't the only ones. And it should be considered racist that (not only blacks) think that they're the most hated because of their skin color. My answer, stop being so whiny about it. All the time, I see black pride! Let's go join a black people group and let's celebrate Black Histroy month, but where's a white people group or a White History month? Or, for that matter, many of the other races. In this day in age, blacks, hispanics, and Asians have to be the most appreciated races.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why anti-black sentiments are alive and well. One biggie that I have observed in my area is that a fair number of them(but not all) are rude and/or belligerent towards those of other races(most notably Hispanics). And it doesn't take a PhD. to know that once someone has had enough bad experiences with a particular ethnic group, then he/she starts to dislike the group in question. Add that to negative media publicity, and you practically have a recipe for hatred of a given race. And what really is sad is that these things ruin it for the whole African-American community- even those who deserve a good life and reputation.

Any form of hatred (racial or otherwise) stems from ignorance of cultural mores and an intolerant attitude for people who may view life through a different cultural lens. The more a culture tries to become racially distinctive, the more that culture exhibits cultural behavior that may be unfamiliar to outsiders, thus drawing attention to differences rather than similarities. I do not think any culture is immune from intolerant behavior from other groups once they decide to celebrate their unique traditions and attitudes. Since Blacks and Hispanics have focused on the preservation of thier cultural identity, it has heightened awareness (and possible hostility) among other groups who see such distinctions as confrontational or outside the "norm". Such swings in racial intolerances usually lessen with time, but there are always lingering insecurities among groups who feel their importance has been lessened with the emerging prominance of others. Unfortunately, we are all somewhat predisposed to want to protect our status quo when society has bestowed advantages to our group at the expense of others. Equality is a dynamic that is very difficult to maintain. Nonetheless, it is a lofty goal and worth remembering when it is our turn to be the ones on top.

Media hype is part of it, but some individuals do their absolute best to prove that blacks are lazy welfare bums. INDIVIDUALS, not everyone. Unfortunately, those are the ones who get noticed.

The blacks who graduate from universities and land good jobs and earn good incomes aren't news. The whites who do the same thing aren't news. The hispanics who.....

It's the bad examples and the few in tragic circumstances who make it into the news and it's sad.

some groups have been influenced by others or brought up to believe, hate,or otherwise feel that blacks are "worse" than other races...its only been a couple generations since "seperate but equal" was considered ok in america...for some...progress is slow...others..non-existant...in my opinion racism is ridiculous and comes from a generally uneducated point of view....but isn't affirmative action just fueling the fires of today?? should someone of a particular race get a job ahead of a more qualified person due to his race? it almost seems like differential treatment doesn't it? I think there's progress though...I don't hesitate to pass along my views and condemn others for racial comments

Black people didn't do anything to deserve race hatred being directed at us. There is a long history of anti-black racism in this country and a strain of it continues. For a lot of racists, they're just continuing an old family tradition.

You also have an abundence of "rational" racists who defend anti-black hatred because of street crime, drug dealing, and welfare and affirmative action. Yet street crime mainly affects poor black people, the overwhelming majority of drug dealers and users are and always have been white, the majority of people on welfare have always been white and the cost of corporate welfare (which also overwhelmingly benefits whites) has long dwarfed the amount of welfare going to individual people of any race. And even if affirmative action did directly cost whites something, there is no rational way that the few thousands places arguably impacted by affirmative action could affect the millions of whites who purport to be aggreived because affirmative action cost them something.

The truth is that "rational" racists recognize that blind race hatred is unacceptable, so they've come up with pretexts to justify their feelings. They're engaging in racial scapegoating because they're insecure about their ability to compete and see racism as a useful way to reduce that competition. That's why they rage against affirmative action, but are indifferent to legacy admissions policies that overwhelmingly benefit whites.

I agree that if you were to just look at Yahoo answers and on the net generally, you would see more hatred directed towards blacks than any other group. More than anything else, I'd say it's a continuation of a long cultural tradition.

I think racism is disgusting. Black people and those of other persecuted races did nothing to deserve any bad treatment other than exist and breath. The African races seem to be stronger and better physical specimens than many whites, add to that intelligence and white people see a threat, or at least they used to. Nowadays I think it is mixed up with learned behavior and people react without thinking. It's wrong.
Australia isn't much better, the Aboriginals get a bum wrap all the time. It's very unfair to say the least.

Who are these other "groups" you speak of? The Aryan prison gangs?

There are individuals who hate other races, and groups of individuals who promote such thinking- but the vast majority of people don't use race as the basis for whom they love or hate- they base it upon the character and actions of the individual in question. Sure there are ethnic groups with strained relations (such as Pakistanis and Indians, or Japanese and Koreans) but that has more to do with their history and political/national conflicts- some of them share common ethnicity.
