First of all...congrats on trying out for the team! That's great that you're willing to try something new.
1) you have to dribble the ball when walking (bounce the ball) if you take more than to steps without dribbling then its a travel
2) get the round thing through the round thing!
3) there are 2 hoops. one is for your team and the other hoop is for the other team. make sure you know which direction you're going.
4) you can't stop dribbling and then start dribbling again...its called a double dribble
5) There are five people from your team on the court at a time. ask your coach what the different positions are that he would want you to play.
6) Each shot is worth 2 points, unless it's outside the three point line which means its worth three points. Free-throws are worth 1 point.
7) there are four quarters in a game. The different times of them vary a little.

There are a lot more rules, but it would take me a long time to explain all of them. I hope you make your team. Remember, coaches like it when you show them that you work hard and do what they tell you to. Just work hard and have fun!! DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

there are many rules, but the basics are fouls, and scoring.
Fouls:
1) cannot hit someone when shooting
2) traveling- you cannot walk with the ball, u must dribble
3) no more than 5 players per team on the court
4) inside the trhee point line is 2 points and outside is 3 points and when you shoot free throws, each is worth 1 point.

thats the basics
