I get those occasionally. In last couple of weeks I got a contest winning notice from Nigeria. I thought was rather odd. I'm not sure if I ever got an answer. I responded to one once, and then they wanted several thousand or was it hundreds of dollars for the paperwork for the claim. Doesn't seem to be worth it and they do ask for your phone number so they can call you. They'll call you for a couple of days.
Send your notice of those messages to FraudWatch.com I think. They keep track of those scams. Even the names of the people that send the scams.

OMIGOD yes!!!! But I looked up the whole situation cause I almost fell for it, and when I found out, I wrote the guy back and linked the website that talked about it being a fraud and threatened to report him and I've never gotten one since. I suggest you try that. I cant remember the name of the site that I found about it but just do some searching and you will find one I'm sure.

Very common internet con. Do NOT respond, not even to wind them up. The people that do this are dangerous criminals and wouldn't think twice about killing someone. A number of people who have been scammed into actually visiting Nigeria have never been seen again...just delete them.

Yeah, its big buisseness scam over there. And the sad thing is, loads of people fall for it, and give the scammers thousands of pounds. I don't understand how people think theyre real, but people do, otherwise they wouldn't be so many emails being sent, because they'd never make money

Spam blocker - don't have one - get one. If you use Yahoo mail, use the Spam button. This stops most of it. If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, try Spamfighter. It's free and trainable.

yeah. I answer them and wind them up big style.

It can be quite funny and you're wasting their time and therefore stopping them from scamming real victims.

I've had them running backwards and forwards to the western union office with ridiculous passwords to try to collect the money which I haven't sent!

There are loads of scambaiting websites where you can compare notes with other scambaiters and post your stories.

Try scambaiting its good fun.

Yep, they really are quite amusing. You would think that after going to all that trouble they would use the spell check!
