#7 Lanny MacDonnald He use to play for the Toronto maple Leafs back in the 70's and 80's But was traded to the Calgary Flames where he won a Stanley Cup. He had one of the hardest wrist shots when he played.

There are a lot of great players like Rocket Richard (Montreal Canadeins), Wayne Gretzky (Edmonton Oilers, LA Kings, [I'm forgetting one], NY Rangers)...even some of the younger players are impressive like Briere, Ovechkin, Brule...

Martin Brodur is the net minder for NJ.

My hockey idol would have to be Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks. He embodies all of the qualities of leadership and sportsmanship, and he did not complain once when Joe Thornton was brought in and Marleau went down to the second line, he knew that that was what would be best for the team, so he took it all in stride and had a career year. And lotusice, good job picking Marco Sturm! I was really sad to see him go in the Thornton trade, but it's good to hear that he's still awesome in Boston.

Tony Granato and Kelly Hrudey are my idols. Hrudey because he was such a great goalie and was very clutch. I modeled myself after him when I played goalie.
Granato because he gave his teams an edge, and came back from an injury that should've ended his career, to be an even better player than before.

Sure, other players have better stats, but I looked up to those players.

Marco Sturm.

Every time I go on the ice, I try to be like him. Heart, grit, smarts, selfless play and total work ethic. He's a team player and a nice guy on and off the ice.

Not a superstar, but being a superstar isn't everything.
