You should plan to teach the subject that you are the more enthusiastic about. I took an English major and history minor and taught English (briefly). At the secondary level I think what is of most importance is whether you have the right kind of personality to get students excited about either of these subjects. Many of them have a mindset that these subjects are boring.

Whichever you find more interesting yourself. Personally I love history but would prefer to teach English because at school in history all you ever get to study are the World Wars. Not the Greeks, the Romans, the Saxons, the Vikings, the industrial age, the Victorian era, the colonies... nope just from the assassination of Franz Ferdinand until the end of WW2. In English you study a range of things and as such the teacher gets to teach a range of things.

Depends where, at what level, and for what age really. But i supose as a gut insinct I'd say history, because in general it's more interesting than english, espeically if you're teaching secondary school children who are forced to go to english, but my have chose history over other subjects (i chose it instead of geography)

then gain, I would just go with whichever subject you enjoy the most. Or try and get a job in a school where you can teach both. There was a teacher at my old school who taugh design tech, french and PE

I don't know about your style so i'm just giving you a suggestion from both sides

English and literate art, with all kinds of fasinating stories, Romeo and Juliet, 1984, or Animal Farm express your self with a thousand different words.Teach your students that main language of the world and make them brighter then you are

Explore the world of History, of how people lived, and how they thought. Explore the great events of time that chaged the world. And help your students understand that without knowing history you are bound to make the same mistakes

Both of them i hear is very intresting, so go for what you think is best... besides if you can do both i'm pretty sure you can ask your education board or something to switch you

There is no best on these two subjects. Both are essential to life. Without English you can't communicate properly with other English speakers. Without History, you have no concept of what has happened in the past and will repeat the same mistakes over and over. I'm not going to give any specifics.

History. History is much more exciting than English. However, the printed word has often changed history!

English would be a priority for the students (this site shows the generally poor state of it).

If their English was good already, history would be more interesting for you. Then - your enthusiasm will rub off on the students and they would enjoy it too.

Sorry - you still have to decide!
