Make sure your palms aren't sweaty
play around a bit and then just lace and hold firmly, but don't squeeze
I dont think guys are very resistant to holding hands unless you do it too much

what do you mean if your looking into his eyes use the interlocked finger method if your just walking then put your four fingers in between his thumb and four fingers is that the question??? honestly if you are on a date he's probably nervous so if your just trying to get to that little step where you're holding hands then just slide your hand into his try and do it when he looks really nervous it'll make him like you more, it's a psychology thing
