I assume that you're talking about symbolic interactionists.
When you come right down to it, symbolic interactionists are going to use a pretty broad spectrum of methodological tools. However, they're going to lean more toward qualitiative methods due to the focus on understanding how individuals construct situations. This means participant observation, interviews, ethnographies (although these are more often done by anthropologists), case studies, and surveys focused on qualitative themes are all going to crop up a lot in SI reports.

Interactionists prefer the dialogue, discussion, question-answer, collaborative works as a methodology. Technically , they are known as meaning negotiation, information sharing, and knowledge transformation.
