i think you miss the point. we are paying the govenment in tax then we are paying again for living in london. why if this olympics is going to benifit all of the country do londoners have to pay again surley the whole country should have to pay or just to govenment.

Private firms. We were told how it would benefit all of the country but can anyone explain how. I have no interest in it and am a rugby league fan and there is no league in the games. It is supposedly going to benefit everyone but how? I lived in the Leeds area which was not involved and am now in Northern Scotland so how am I going to benefit?

If the goverment pay then we will pay through taxation. To be honest I thing the Olympic movement has lost the plot. It is all about making money and all of the athletes are professional.

I would like to see all competitors being amateur and competeing for the fun of it and not just to win prize money.

The games is just another of President Blairs whims. I do not recall anyone asking the public if they wanted the games here or if we wanted to bear the cost of them. The olympics is just for the London area and nothing to do with the rest of the country. The goverment seem to forget about northern England and as for scotland they only want our money for taxes and no doubt to baile out the finances when they go pear shaped.

I have no interest in the Olympics so why should the goverment pay as they will use my taxes. They should use private investment or cancel them now and give them to another country.

The government should contribute as should all in the UK. Remember that money will also be raised by private enterprise and companies investing in new infrastructure as well a sponsorship etc.

The people of London are going to be the ones that benefit most so yes they should pay more, In Northern Ireland we are building a massive new stadium and sports park for the Olympics so we can host teams and football matches, we will benefit from that and as such Northern Irish taxes will be paying for it.

I think that its a great honour for us to be selected for this and both the government and people should pay for it. There will be a good long lasting legacy from these games for the uk and also for the local area where it will be held.

This is a positive thing for our childrens future

that's what olympic committees are for. they raise the money for the olympics.

cities and countries (government...through your tax money) invest in the olympics by ensuring facilities are up to olympic standards. the rest of the monies are raised by the committee through sponsorships, mostly, and other methods like donations, bursaries, etc.

The Athletes, they are going to use the facilities. I myself personally wouldn't even go to Arenas that have been constructed on toxic waste sites.

this question is insulting to 2 those who've lost their baby. you would possibly want to be ashamed for posing it. i'm asking you to do the honourable element and withdraw it. in case you do not i might want to get it withdrawn.
